Calçotada and Wine Tasting

The experience takes place in a winery 20 minutes north of Barcelona, where you will receive a tour of the facilities plus an in depth demonstration about the wine making and its process.
After you have worked up an appetite you will be ready for the main event!

The Calçotada is one of the most important gastronomic events in the Catalan culture. If you have never tried it before, then it is a must for all newcomers to Catalunya. If you are familiar with this experience, then we invite you to try it with us this season.

The Calçot is a vegetable which comes from the same family as the leeks and onions; they are harvested from November to April. They are cooked by grilling them on an open fire and are served with the special ingredient, the Calçot sauce which is a sweet tasting garnish made from a traditional blend of herbs and spices. What makes this activity so much fun is the way the Calçots are eaten. First you have to peel the leek-like vegetable to reveal the tasty inside, and then you have to dip it into the sauce and carefully navigate it to your mouth without dripping!!! Don’t worry, even the locals cannot avoid the drips… everyone is presented with bibs to avoid soiling your clothes.

The meal is completed with a tasting of 3 different wines, a various assortment of meats, salads and vegetables.

This experience is ideal for companies, family get togethers and groups.
