Villages forgotten by Time
You will leave Barcelona and head for inland Catalonia. Once in the Valle de Collsacabra you find yourself surrounded by impressive crags, forests, streams and peaceful medieval villages, which appear to have been constructed solely for you to admire their beauty.
After passing several different villages, you will arrive at Rupit, a place, which still reflects a time when wealth was linked to the land. You will stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets, admire the medieval architecture and soak up the peacefulness of the area. This village, with no more than 350 inhabitants, seems to have been forgotten by the passage of time. The country houses date from the XVI and XVII centuries, hanging bridges and Romanic churches are a perfect backdrop for some incredible photos.
From Rupit you can follow various different footpaths, which have been created by the passage of the villagers over the centuries. Your guide will let you choose which of the itineraries you would like to follow, although we recommend one of the more traditional routes due to its stunning displays of nature. Should you choose this route you will arrive at an impressive, 100-meter high waterfall, from where you can contemplate the Bas Valley (the Garrotxa) and the Susqueda marshland. It is a place, which once there is difficult to leave, simply because of it’s breathtaking scenery.
